A congress with a title “SMEs in the Light of Experiences and New Ideas” will be organized under the collaboration of Turgut Ozal University and TUSKON on 23-24 May 2012 in Ankara, Turkey where the experiences and new ideas will be gathered. The aim of the congress is to put forward the evaluations on the position of SMEs both in Turkey and in the world, share experiences, discuss new ideas, introduce innovation opportunities through critical and analytical studies, with an interdisciplinary and multi-disciplined approach.
SMEs are the institutions which deserve the most support from the university and private sector collaboration as a real accumulator of the economy. While SMEs contributing the economy through competing with the big companies by producing final products and services; they also contribute to the economy by supporting the development of these big companies through producing products as a supplier. Accordingly, they co-exist with the big companies as they form a supplier industry. SMEs are the fundamental component of the competition based free market stability from an economical point of view and societal stability from a social perspective for most of the other countries, with their considerable number, employment volume, value of production, their contribution to the development and wide dispersion of ownership. In Turkey SMEs constitutes the majority of the enterprises (99.8%) and this ratio is indicator of the importance of SMEs in economy.
SME Congress will bring the scholars study on SMEs, private sector representatives and founders/managers of SMEs and also the experiences and new ideas of scientists together. Congress will present new strategies and raise awareness on contemporary management techniques for SMEs. The role of SMEs in global markets will be investigated and the new equilibriums for the expansion to international markets will be evaluated. Congress will strengthen the national and international collaboration opportunities. Additionally, by strengthening the collaboration between universities and private sector it will provide possibilities for the generation of new approaches for SMEs. Consequently, while universities will be able to prepare human resources for SMEs, SMEs will have the opportunity to follow contemporary knowledge.
All the papers directly or indirectly related to SME subject which is also appropriate for the innovation theme may be presented as a proceeding. Additionally like academic participants, private sector representatives may also contribute to the congress by submitting papers or poster presentations.

These subject titles are only presented as suggestions; all other studies related to the innovation theme will be accepted.
Moreover, poster presentations with substantial virtual materials and films (documentary or feature film) related to the titles of the congress will also be taken into consideration. All the accepted papers will be published as full-length manuscripts.
The language of the congress is Turkish and English. Parallel sessions will be organized according to the accepted submissions language. Abstracts limited to 100-200 words in length with five keywords including the contact information of the authors’ should be submitted no later than 30 December 2011. The final full-length manuscripts of the accepted abstracts should be submitted no later than 31 January 2012.
The subjects titles of the congress will be clustered around common topics and parallel sessions will be organized. Additionally a separate session will be organized to bring the academics, graduate level and doctoral degree students and elite managers of the private sector together.
Pre-organized session proposals will be accepted with a minimum of three and maximum of five contributors. In that case, the session proposal abstract, five keywords, abstracts of the papers, the contact information of session chair and the author(s) and (if any) argumentative(s) should be submitted.
